about us
Established in 2007, Generation West Virginia is a growing movement of young leaders working to make our state and communities more vibrant and welcoming to young adults to ensure that we have a strong workforce, base of leaders, and growing communities throughout the future. Generation West Virginia (GWV) was formed from two statewide meetings of young leaders and professionals to identify collaboration opportunities. These summits were made possible through the charitable support of the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation and the Charleston Area Alliance and the facilitation and strategic planning expertise of Tom Heywood, managing partner of Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love.
GWV is led by a volunteer steering committee that includes a representative from each existing regional young leader / professional group in West Virginia.
There are presently five working sub-committees focusing on the following issues:
- º Best Practices & Outreach chaired by Joe Randolph
- º Economic Development chaired by Ashley Hardesty
- º Legislative & Policy Issues chaired by Chris Ferro
- º Statewide Image & Marketing co-chaired by Jessica Nester & Tracy Straub
- º West Virginia Young Leadership Conference chaired by Paul Daugherty
Each committee is actively working to launch special projects or activities to Generation WV forward. Learn how you can Become a GWV Volunteer!
